Will My Conservatory Support a Tiled Roof?

Written by the Swansea Conservatory Roofs team · Last reviewed 3 November 2026

Many conservatories can take a lightweight tiled roof, but you shouldn't assume yours can. It depends on the base, walls and frames, so it needs checking in person.

What we check:

  • The base: Any signs of movement, cracking or damp.
  • The dwarf walls: Their condition, and whether they're sound.
  • The frames: Whether they're straight, sound and able to carry the design.
  • The junction with the house: How the new roof will meet the wall, and how water will drain.
  • The height and pitch: Whether the finish will work for the room.

If there's a problem. Sometimes strengthening or other work is possible. If it isn't, or the cost doesn't make sense, we'll tell you.
